One of the most fun and fulfilling aspects of owning a home with an outdoor living space is gathering with friends and family for barbecues and get-togethers. That's especially true when the sun is bright and shiny. However, as is often the case, too much of a good thing can turn bad. Trying to enjoy the company of your guests can be interrupted when too much sun is involved. Nobody wants to get sunburned while they're eating a burger or sipping on a tasty beverage.
That's why many property owners consider awning installations for their homes. Whether you're looking to create a shady spot in your backyard or add an aesthetic addition to your house, custom awnings are both sensible and useful.
That's because awnings serve multiple purposes. They can extend your roof, providing additional protection from the weather for your home. They offer shade and shelter against the elements. Patio, freestanding, and other outdoor awnings create additional living space in your yard due to the shelter and shade they provide. They also enhance the overall appearance and value of your home. For instance, products like retractable awnings can be extended out whenever wind or rain threatens to protect your outdoor furniture, windows, and doors.
The issue that many people run into is trying to find a reliable awning company from which to purchase products. Doing business with many modern awning companies is like riding a roller coaster at the most popular amusement park in Orange, CA. If you're looking for a family-owned, high-quality alternative to the cheap options found on platforms like Amazon, look no further than The Awning Company.

We exclusively use Sunbrella fabric and Goretex thread, ensuring durability, fade resistance, and optimal performance.

One of the biggest compliments our awning company in Orange, CA gets is when a past customer refers their friends or family members to our awning business. They trust our staff and believe in our products enough to put their name on the line for us â and that means the world. To earn the trust and referrals of our customers, we only use the finest fabrics from Sunbella and threads from Goretex.
Sunbrella has been a well-known and trusted name in the awning industry for many years, and our standard Sunbrella awning fabrics continue to be a popular choice for any awning application. Sunbrella is not only suitable for fixed, retractable, and window awnings but can also be utilized for various other shade applications such as pergolas, shade sails, and more.
Sunbrella was established with the belief that fabrics should be both aesthetically pleasing and practical. In the 1960s, Sunbrella was confronted with the task of developing an awning canvas with a significantly longer lifespan than cotton. They passed that test with flying colors.
Today, Sunbrella's textiles are created with meticulous attention to design details and engineered with strong performance characteristics that resist fading and deterioration from sunlight and chemical exposure. The fabric is both tactile and durable, possesses top-notch environmental characteristics, is easy to maintain, and provides long-lasting performance wherever you need it.
When you want a 5-star meal in California, you don't go to your local fast-food joint and expect excellence. You go to the most popular fine dining restaurant in Orange, CA. Likewise, when you need a high-quality awning, you don't choose a company that uses materials that fade or degrade quickly. You choose an awning business that uses Sunbella fabrics.
At The Awning Company, we guarantee that we will use only Sunbrella Awning Fabrics, which is the largest and most recognized outdoor fabric manufacturer in the industry. In fact, we sew Sunbrella labels into each of our awnings, so there's no question in your mind that you're buying a quality product. Sunbrella labels are only issued to companies that use their fabrics 100% of the time. No exceptions. When you see that Sunbella label, you know that your awning will be attractive, convenient, and long-lasting.
Our Sunbrella Awning Fabrics are sewn with Goretex sewing thread, which is three times more durable than the industry standard bonded polyester thread. While bonded polyester loses 60% of its original breaking strength within the first three years, our Goretex thread maintains 100% of its original breaking strength even after 10 years. This means that your awning seams will last as long as your fabric. Goretex thread also maintains its strength after regular exposure to UV sunlight, as its UV resistance is built into the thread and is not a coating or additive that can wear off.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Southern California is making the switch from red flag conditions to rainfall this weekend with showers, mountain snow and a big cool down, prompting concerns over debris flow and mudslides.
A red flag warning will remain in effect through 10 a.m. Friday for most of Los Angeles and Ventura counties due to extremely low humidity and offshore wind gusts. Humidity will be extremely low with minimums under 10% and poor overnight recovery.
Rain is expected Saturday and Sunday, bringing a quarter to half of an inch of rain to the area. The Palisades Fire area could see about half an inch of rain Friday, as well as the Eaton Fire area. There is also a chance of rain on Monday.
Some areas may see some light, scattered drizzle Saturday night. By around 7:20 a.m. Sunday, the region will see some widespread showers, but it will be mostly light rain, on and off.
By Sunday afternoon into Monday morning, that's when we'll start to see some rain and snow in the mountains. Some thunderstorms are possible on Sunday in the Los Angeles area.
Monday afternoon will see some scattered showers, and then the rain is set to move out of the area by Tuesday.
Most of the Southland will likely see anywhere between 1/2 an inch to 3/4 of an inch of rainfall from this storm.
The San Gabriel mountain area will see anywhere between 1 to 2 inches of rain.
The Valleys and Inland Empire regions may see anywhere between 1/2 of an inch to an inch of rain.
Los Angeles and Orange counties will be partly sunny but cooler with a high of 70 amid red-flag conditions.
Temperatures are expected to drop to the 50s this weekend when some rain arrives. The area is expected to get a quarter of an inch of rain Saturday.
The valleys and Inland Empire Friday will also be sunny, with a high of 72 degrees and sunshine on tap. The low overnight will be 42. A 60% of rain is forecasted for the weekend.
Beaches can expect temperatures reaching a high of 64 degrees and a low of 49. Showers are expected this weekend.
Mountains Friday will see colder temperatures amid breezy conditions. A high of 55 is on tap and a chilly 30 is expected overnight. The mountain communities are expected to get 6-12 inches of snow.
Deserts Friday will be in the upper 60s and in the 20s overnight. Afternoon showers are expected during the weekend.

Advance Auto Parts is rolling out of California.
The auto supply company, with more than 150 stores in this state, is closing all California locations and hundreds of others across the Western U.S.
In all, it is closing more than 700 stores and distribution centers in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Arizona, a move that comes as the company aims to “improve the productivity of all our assets and to create shareholder value,” Shane O’Kelly, the company’s president and chief executive, said in a news release.
In last week’s third-quarter earnings call, O’Kelly said the company will focus on top-performing stores and ditch stores that are struggling.
“We made the decision to close certain non-performing, nonstrategic stores in the U.S. to better position our assets based for long-term sustainable growth,” he said. Instead, Advance Auto Parts will work to “improve store concentration in our strongest markets.”
Like other auto parts stores, this store sold items for do-it-yourself car repairs, with everything from batteries to fuel injector O-Ring kits to air filters stacked on its shelves.
The company, based in Raleigh, N.C., has 94 stores, with more than two-thirds concentrated in San Diego, Orange and Los Angeles counties.
While the company reported a narrower loss of $6 million in the third quarter, down from a loss of $62 million in the year ago period, it saw net sales from continuing operations drop by $100 million compared to the same period in 2023. Same-store sales decreased by 2.3%.
The company, founded in 1932, has been in turnaround mode for the past year as it tries to reverse sliding sales and return to profitability. It recently sold Worldpac, an automotive parts wholesaler, for $1.5 billion as it reworks its business model.
The company did not say how many jobs will be lost in its latest announcement.
Even as it closes these stores, the company said it plans to open 60 stores by mid-2027, O’Kelly said in the earnings call.
The region is home to many alternatives including Pep Boys, AutoZone, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Napa Auto Parts.
The almost 70 billion U.S. auto parts manufacturing industry declined 1% in 2023 and has declined an average of 3% per year between 2018 and 2023, according to data from IBISWorld, a market research company. It cited competition and imports as the prevailing reason.
But the larger U.S. auto aftermarket industry is poised to grow. It reached $218.82 billion in 2023 and “is estimated to surpass around USD 336.79 billion by 2033,” Precedence Research, a market research and statistics firm, wrote. This growth is linked to demand for tires, batteries and do-it-yourself repair automobile jobs.
